When the ambient humidity exceeds the indicator’s threshold, the blue crystals dissolve and diffuse outward. If the ambient humidity subsequently returns to dry conditions, the indicator’s color will not revert to its original state; however, it can still be used to detect the highest relative humidity reached, thereby helping to prevent potential corrosion damage to printed circuit boards (PCBs) and surface-mount devices (SMDs).
